About us

GOD is Love...1 John 4:8 (KJV)

About Us

The Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Incorporated, is a small congregation dedicated to the teaching  the Gospel of Jesus Christ, while meeting the basic needs of its community through love.  Our motivation is summed up in our motto: God Is Love...1 John 4:8.

Our Belief

CJCMA believes in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the one true GOD.  Its purpose is to spread the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is that one is saved by faith in HIM alone, and that one's faith is expressed by submitting to HIS plan of salvation.  This plan is outlined in the Bible as found in John 3:3-7, and the Acts of the Apostles 2:38.
One must be born of the water and of the Spirit through baptism in the name of Jesus Christ and be filled with the Holy Ghost.  Thus, our services are structured to encompass the spirit of this belief.

Our Mission

The mission of the Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Inc. (CJCMA) is:
•    To compel men, women, boys and girls to be reconciled to GOD, their creator, through the gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, to the intent that they may escape from His judgement and to gain eternal life, which He offers.
•    To  encourage Godly character through exhortation to personal discipleship to Jesus Christ in faith and love.
•    To empower believers to pursue a lifestyle that testifies to their faith in Christ Jesus.

•    To serve the community by ministering to the physical needs of every person through its Community Breakfast, Food Pantry, Rummage, and other ministries.

Our Vision

CJCMA’s vision is to see souls saved through the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to demonstrate the love of Christ by freely giving to those in need...Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 14:33.

Our Motto

God is Love...1 John 4:8

statement of faith and Doctrine:

God has shown His purpose through His Son, Jesus Christ, and He is working out His purpose through the Church, which is His body on earth.  Thus, we are grateful to Him for both calling us and empowering us through the Holy Ghost to undertake His work in the community in which He has placed us.

The Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Inc. (CJCMA) exists to promote the ministry of reconciliation as mandated by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to the extent that every man may have the right to Eternal Life.  We gather together to strengthen the believer’s discipleship in Christ by encouraging one another to continue in His Word, encouraging one another to do good works, and encouraging one another to build good character through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.  We strive to be a light in our community by meeting the needs, to best of our abilities, of every individual we meet.

Our confidence is, as we keep our eyes on Him and remain rooted and grounded in the undeniable truths of His Word, that we will continue to work through Him to do that which is pleasing only to Him.

The following is our foundation as it relates to God, His Word, and His Church.

GOD

The Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Inc. (CJCMA) believes the scriptures to teach that there is but one God and therefore concurs with the Shema in its monotheism.  By one God we mean one Spirit, for God is Spirit.  We know He reveals Himself as the cause and the creator of all things seen and unseen.  As such, we know Him to be the sole ruler of the creation and subsequently, the affairs of men.

As God is indivisible in His being and His nature, we affirm that He became flesh as the scriptures state.  Thus, we believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atoning death, His burial and resurrection, His ascension, and His future return in power and glory.

SCRIPTURE

CJCMA believes in the Holy Scriptures, that is, the 66 books of the Bible.  We know that all scriptures in its original autographs was given by God and written down by the apostles and prophets as they were inspired by the Holy Ghost.

Thus, we believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old Testament scriptures and the New Testament scriptures, was inspired by God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness.  We know that it is profitable for instructions in godly living, for teaching the doctrine of truth, and for communicating with God.

CHURCH

CJCMA is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.

We gather together for perfecting the saints to the work of serving, so as to building up the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;  all the while endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

For we know that there is one body, and one Spirit, even as we also were called in one hope of our calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all (Ephesians 4).

The Church of Jesus Christ Deliverance Temple Apostolic

was incorporated on September 9, 1992 under the state of Florida statues, and started its Community Service Outreach that same year.  The name was changed in 2014 to Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic (cjcma), to accurately capture the key character of the ministry.  CJCMA is a not-for-profit organization that operates exclusively religious activities.  It is an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3)

of the Internal Revenue Code.

Our

History

In 1992, Sunday worship services were held at the pastor's home while bible studies were held at the members' homes on a rotational basis for several months.  The Lord then saw fit to move the ministry to Melrose Place, where it faithfully served the Melrose Mercy/Pine Acres community until 2005.

Due to contractual conflicts, CJCMA had to seek a new place of worship.  In the interim, the Lord led the ministry to partner with the Enoch Davis Recreational Center and started holding both its worship services and the Community Fellowship Breakfast/Food Pantry there.  It continues to be a fruitful partnership where CJCMA continues to serve the communities that surround the center.

In 2013, CJCMA moved to its general worship services to its current location, where it is also making an impact as it feeds the community after its afternoon service, through its Food Pantry.

CJCMA's previous associations include the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Inc. (CJC) located in Patterson, New Jersey; United Churches of Jesus Christ (Apostolic), Inc. (UCJC) located in Baltimore, Maryland; and currently with Faith Christian Center Church (FCCCI) located in Catonsville, Maryland.

Doctor Winsome Powell has served as pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Inc. since 1992.

Our Pastor

Pastor Winsome Powell came to the apostolic faith in 1974 under the tutelage of Bishop Vivian Burke, pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic located in Kingston, Jamaica.

She migrated several years later to the United States and became a member of the United Pentecostal Church (UPC) of North St. Petersburg, where Brother Craig served as the pastor.  While there, she was eventually appointed as Worship Leader and Sunday school teacher for the Children's department.

Upon the recommendation of one of the UPC members, she was offered the position of head pastor in 1981 for a non-incorporated apostolic church located in south Saint Petersburg.

Looking for assistance in nurturing the growing ministry, she came into fellowship with the late Bishop Roy Williams, founder of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, Inc., located in Patterson, NJ and, while there, she was ordained as an evangelist and then transitioned to assistant pastor in 1986.

In 1992, the church was reorganized and became what is today, the Church of Jesus Christ Ministries Apostolic, Inc. (CJCMA). In 1993, she was officially ordained as the pastor under the late Bishop Monroe Saunders, Sr., founder of the United Churches of Jesus Christ (Apostolic) Inc., located in Baltimore, MD.

Pastor Dr. Winsome Powell earned her Master of Theology degree in 2009 from the Cypress Bible Institute in Lindale, TX, and went on to earn her doctorate in 2014.

She continues to serve faithfully as head pastor and chairman of the board for CJCMA.
